The Adverse Impact Analyzer is a statistical tool designed to help HR professionals analyze their selection processes for possible adverse impact. It uses a selection rate comparison and is modeled after Section 4D of the Uniform Guidelines on Employee Selection Procedures and numerous court cases. These tests include the 80% Test, the Statistical Significance Test and the Fisher Exact Test.

What is Adverse Impact? Adverse Impact is when a facially neutral selection device or process yields a substantially different rate of selection in hiring, promotion or other employment decision which works to the disadvantage of members of a race, sex or ethnic group.

Use the Adverse Impact Analyzer to perform the following analyses:

  • Impact analysis of your hiring activities
  • Impact analysis of your promotion activities
  • Impact analysis of your termination, layoff or reduction in force
  • Impact analysis of positive or negative selection by age groups (over 40 vs under 40, etc.)
